That's change we can believe in

I ordinarily hate to talk politics, but there's something very out of the ordinary going on right now. These past few weeks, I've felt an overwhelming rush of hope. Hope for a better tomorrow. Hope for a new dawn. Hope for another nebulous adjective and synonym for the future. A future in which the tidal wave of enduring change erodes all the injustice and divisions that have plagued the citizens of Duke University for the past eight years.

Greetings from Beijing, China, the place that invented the Great Wall and perfected the art of pollution. I'm here as a part of the Duke Study in China program to fine-tune my Chinese language abilities. I'm two weeks in, and I can already say, "When I eat unclean watermelon and need to go to the bathroom, I like to read Playboy Magazine." Progress.


A letter to RLHS

We are less than enthralled with your selection of Gilbert-Addoms Down Under for Room Pix '08. Although it is an adequate venue, we believe it violates the three main rules of real estate: location, location, location. GA Down Under, for those of you who may not know, is located below Gilbert-Addoms, in the backyard of East Campus. Though East Campus, with its soaring Georgian architecture, is quite lovely, it is distinctly not West Campus.
