Take of the week: Duke men's basketball has what it takes to win ACC regular-season title

(12/11/22 6:26pm)

Duke has continued to show its growth over the month of December. Against beating a strong Iowa team in the Jimmy V Classic, Blue Devil fans got a glimpse of what this Duke team can become, a squad that is among the nation’s best on the defensive end with the talent to keep up with anyone on offense. After routing Maryland Eastern Shore with their first ever all-freshman starting five, the Blue Devils have a much-needed period of rest and practice. Then, Duke will turn its sights to ACC play, and by the end of the season, the Blue Devils will be the regular-season ACC champions.

Take of the week: Emergence of Lively can spur Duke men's basketball to contention

(12/04/22 2:10am)

To this point in the season, the Blue Devils have been a mixed bag on the court. An early loss to Kansas and a shellacking at the hands of Purdue led to some reasons for pessimism. However, a big home win against a tough Ohio State team showed that Duke under head coach Jon Scheyer still has the ability to compete at the highest level and contend for banners in March.

'Finish it': Behind Leonard, receivers, Duke football closes regular season on high note against Wake Forest

In October’s home matchup against North Carolina, Duke offensive lineman Andre Harris Jr. was whistled for a 15-yard personal foul, a penalty that negated a Jalon Calhoun touchdown that would have sealed the game for the Blue Devils. This setback led to a Charlie Ham missed field goal, and North Carolina marched down the field for the win on the next possession.

Scouting the opponent: Duke football faces tall task against Pittsburgh's 'complete unit'

(11/16/22 11:16pm)

Last time out, Duke gritted out a 24-7 win against Virginia Tech at Wallace Wade Stadium. This places the Blue Devils at an outstanding 7-3 so far in head coach Mike Elko’s first season, and the team is now receiving national recognition for its efforts with 16 votes in Sunday's AP Poll. A win this week could very well vault Duke into one of the final rankings of the year, building strong momentum for the postseason. The Blue Devils' opponent is a step up, as the team will travel to Pennsylvania for a matchup with Pittsburgh. With the Panthers coming off of a dominating 37-7 win against Virginia, let’s take a look at what problems Pittsburgh could present for Duke.

Scouting the opponent: Duke football welcomes struggling Virginia Tech

(11/10/22 12:36am)

Following a 38-31 win against Boston College, the Blue Devils are now above .500 in conference and three games above .500 overall. This largely unexpected success in head coach Mike Elko’s first season has led the Blue Devils to clinch bowl eligibility for the first time since 2018. Now, the Blue Devils will look to “get greedy in November,” and this mission gets underway with a Saturday matchup at home against Virginia Tech. The Hokies are coming off of a 28-27 loss to Georgia Tech at home. Let’s examine what the Hokies bring to the table.
