The volleyball team entered the year with high expectations, but as the season wore on, an inexperienced squad with five freshmen and only one senior proved unable to fulfill any of its goals. Three losing streaks of four matches or more doused any early-season goals the Blue Devils had as they finished 8-21 (4-13 in the ACC), their worst performance since 1983. The finish resulted in the team's second straight first-round exit in the ACC Tournament.
