Extra Point: Duke football vs. Virginia

The Blue Devils are within just one win of bowl eligibility after beating Virginia 35-22 this afternoon at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, VA. Although Duke trailed 22-0 in the second quarter, a strong second half effort on both sides of the football resulted in 35 unanswered points. Redshirt junior quarterback Anthony Boone led the offense, completing 21-of-39 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns.




Making the Grade: Duke football vs. Navy

The Blue Devils won their second straight game on Saturday, routing Navy 35-7 at Wallace Wade Stadium. Duke welcomed back redshirt junior quarterback Anthony Boone, who returned this week for the first time since injuring his collarbone on Sept. 7. Boone threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns, while the Blue Devil defense held the Midshipmen to just 319 yards of total offense.

The Blue Devils won their fourth game this season, blowing out visiting Navy 35-7. Duke redshirt junior quarterback Anthony Boone returned from a Sept. 7 collarbone injury to replace an injured Brandon Connette and throw for 295 yards and three touchdowns. After the Midshipmen tied the game 7-7, the Blue Devils took control of the game and scored 28 unanswered points, inching closer to bowl eligibility.






Making the Grade: Duke football vs. Troy

After dropping two straight games to ACC opponents, Duke beat non-conference foe Troy 38-31 on Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium. The Blue Devils looked much better on offense, scoring 38 points and amassing more than 500 yards of offense, while the special teams continued to put in solid play minus a missed field goal that would have widened the Duke lead late in the game. The defense gave up more than 500 yards of offense for the third straight game and continues to be the weak spot of this season’s squad.


Extra Point: Duke football vs. Troy

The Blue Devils picked up their third win of the season with a 38-31 victory against Troy. The Blue Devils were led by redshirt junior quarterback Brandon Connette, who threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Duke built a 21-7 lead in the second quarter and held off a late Trojan comeback attempt to win in front of the alumni on homecoming weekend.




Extra Point: Duke football vs. Pittsburgh

The Duke Blue Devils fell to the Pittsburgh Panthers 58-55 this afternoon at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Led by redshirt senior quarterback Tom Savage, who threw six touchdown passes, and freshman runningback James Conner, who rushed for 173 yards, the Panthers built a 51-28 lead in the second half. Duke would narrow the lead to just three points late in the fourth quarter, but could not stop the Panthers from running out the clock in the final minutes of the game.



Making the Grade: Duke football vs. Georgia Tech

After starting 2-0 for the first time since 1998, the Duke Blue Devils fell to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 38-14 in their 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference opener at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday. The Blue Devils were unable to stop the Georgia Tech triple-option offense, while redshirt junior quarterback Brandon Connette could not get the offense into a rhythm in his second career start.

The Duke Blue Devils fell to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 38-14 this afternoon at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Duke jumped out front of the Yellow Jackets, taking a 7-3 lead in the first quarter, but Georgia Tech, led by sophomore quarterback Vad Lee, would score the next 28 points and ultimately garner 469 yards of total offense which made for an impressive 24-point win.
