Duke's dismal dating scene. You've been complaining about it since October of your freshman year. So has everyone else. It's the same complaint, no matter who you ask: People are either single or practically married. There's nothing in between. No dinner and a movie, no meeting someone for drinks, no trips to the zoo, nothing.
Much has been made about the success of the campaign and Nan Keohane should be commended for helping Duke amass such wealth. The best news about this is that the administration is soliciting student input. That's where I come in. There are all sorts of spectacular suggestions being thrown around. Monorail! Ninth Street running through Central! Blow the Bryan Center to the moon and build a new one! Another new Oak Room! Personal midgets for students! All joking aside, I do have some suggestions that would give this place a boost. And no, "Make Duke more like Harvard" is not one of them.
So you spent last semester abroad and now you've had a week to get back in the swing. Notice anything different? Thought so. Sure, the Chapel is still beautiful, the BC still sucks, students are still complaining, the basketball team is good, the football team is bad, 9:10 is still a pain. Some things never change.
