For the love of turkey

Let me be the first to say that I love Thanksgiving. It is, in my opinion, the most magical holiday of the year. But, sadly, I have not been able to go home for Thanksgiving break. Like many other students, I cannot afford the expense of flying across the country to stay at home for a few days and then return to campus for only two short weeks.

We’ve all read a dozen articles with titles like this, about how social media has revolutionized daily life and changed the way people interact with each other. These stories can be optimistic—praising the beauty and connectedness created by Internet culture, or they can be pessimistic, lamenting the selfie-oriented, youth culture plaguing the Millennial generation.




My computer and I

Have you ever met a Duke student without a laptop? Neither have I. In fact, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a student in this country who doesn’t use a computer on a regular basis. Computers have become a fundamental tool of daily life, like spoons or cars. You can get by without them, but it really sucks.
