Here we are – 2015! We made it! As we move forward into the unknown of this new, exciting year, Recess sat around our crystal ball and summoned forth some predictions for what to expect in 2015. Whether the predictions have to do with the rise of television, the wealth of new movies being released, or seemingly random artist collaborations, Recess has you covered. Pinhook hosts night of American folk music

Three different forces of nature from across our great nation will converge at the Pinhook on Wed., Oct. 22 to play some of the grittiest, rowdiest, most rollicking and sweetly sublime tunes a fragile mind could handle. Sam Moss from New England, the Lowest Pair from Olympia, Washington and Zeke Graves, hailing from Durham, North Carolina, will all play together in what can only be described in conglomerate as Americana. The Chronicle spoke with each artist in anticipation of their performance.





Highlights from Hopscotch

We arrive at the first concert of the day after navigating the labyrinth that is the Raleigh Convention and getting caught up in playing with a display of Moog synthesizers. I have tied my press pass too tightly around my wrist, but not even this setback can dampen my enthusiasm for tonight’s lineup. City Plaza is mildly busy. People are taking this time to go get dinner at one of the multitude of glass restaurant kiosks. We do the same, and we sit down to watch Lonnie Walker with our salads.
