Yadav hopes to bring global view to Board

Yadav is a sixth-year graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and current president of the Graduate Professional Student Council. From India, Yadav attended the University of Mumbai for his undergraduate studies, and has already completed a master’s degree in biomedical engineering at Duke. In a time when Duke has an increasingly global presence, he believes that his international background can provide significant value to the Board of Trustees.


Antibacterial products may mean tougher illnesses

The study examined bacteria associated with fecal material at a wastewater site in New Jersey, and found that 80 percent of the bacteria were resistant to triclosan. This staggering figure is indicative of the proliferation of resistant bacteria. The widespread use of antibacterial soap has essentially created a widespread "super-pathogen."

Amidst the mad annual scramble to protest, brag about and discuss U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Colleges” ranking, other important categories tend to get left in the dust. One of the most significant of those categories is “Best Undergraduate Teaching,” which Duke placed 7th in this year.
