The NCAA tournament will continue without fans in attendance.

Amid fears of COVID-19 and its rising impact within the United States, the NCAA has officially ruled to hold all upcoming championship events with just family and critical staff present. This includes both men's and women's NCAA tournaments. In a statement released on Twitter, NCAA president Mark Emmert cited the decision as one based on public health concerns for all involved.

Emmert's full statement can be found in the tweet below.

Spokespeople for Duke men's basketball refused to comment. Representatives for Duke women's basketball did not respond in time for publication.

In response to Emmert's statement, the ACC announced on Twitter that Wednesday night's matchups in the ACC men's basketball tournament would continue as planned, with more information to come.

Furthermore, according to a tweet from Yahoo!'s Pete Thamel, an NCAA spokesman said that NCAA tournament games will still be televised but that a decision regarding other media is still being discussed.
