Duke unranked in preseason USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll

Duke football still has some work to do when it comes to impressing the head coaches in the NCAA.

Despite being picked by the media to finish second in the Coastal Division this season and finishing the 2013-14 campaign at No. 23 in the AP Top 25, the Blue Devils were left out of the preseason USA Today/Amway Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Released Thursday afternoon, the poll keeps up with every other major ranking system with Florida State leading the nation at No. 1 with Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and Auburn rounding out the top five, respectively.

Two other ACC teams made the rankings, as Clemson secured the No. 16 spot and North Carolina came in at No. 23.

Missouri led all unranked teams with 141 votes. Duke came in 10th for votes received by an unranked team with 41 and was still surpassed by another conference foe, as Miami was one spot ahead of the Blue Devils with 45 votes.

The poll is determined by the Amway Board of Coaches, which is made up of 62 head coaches. All are members of the American Football Coaches Association and include Duke head coach David Cutcliffe.
