Danny Ferry named Hawks' GM

Duke legend Danny Ferry is officially the new general manager of the Atlanta Hawks after agreeing to a six year contract.

Ferry has a very extensive history in NBA front offices. He was the general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2005 to 2010. Starting in 2010, Ferry joined the San Antonio Spurs as the vice president of basketball operations. The Philadelphia 76ers were also chasing after Ferry.

Ferry will have his hands full with the Hawks, juggling Joe Johnson's hefty contract and a disgruntled Josh Smith. His first test will be capitalizing on the 23rd pick in the NBA Draft this Thursday.
