WVU's Bryant Out for National Semifinal

INDIANAPOLIS — West Virginia point guard Darryl "Truck" Bryant will not play in this evening's Final Four game against Duke, the sophomore told ESPN.com.

Bryant broke his foot in practice March 23, but surprised many when he announced he could be ready in time to play this weekend. However, Mountaineer head coach Bob Huggins said Bryant would only play if he was able to practice during the week, and the sophomore was apparently unable to do so.

"It's not fair to the other guys, you know, if he goes in and goes down, loses the ball, we lose by a point," Huggins said. "It's just not fair to everybody else."

Bryant's replacement will be junior Joe Mazzulla, West Virginia's secret weapon against higher-seeded teams--Mazzulla scored a season-high 17 points against No. 1 Kentucky in last week's Elite 8 contest, and the junior was instrumental in the Mountaineers' upset of Duke in 2008.
