BREAKING NEWS: Roof in as next head coach

Ted Roof will be recommended as Duke's next head football coach by athletic director Joe Alleva and the football search committee, according to sources speaking to The Chronicle on the condition of anonymity and thedevilsden.com.

The Board of Trustees need to approve the selection at its meetings later this week. The Board is likely to follow Alleva's recommendation.

The other finalist for the position was former NFL and college head coach, Bobby Ross, who had retired from coaching in the middle of the 2000 season while he was at the helm of the Detroit Lions.

Duke interviewed a number of candidates for the position, including Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Hue Jackson and Colgate head coach and Duke alum Dick Biddle.

Please stay tuned to The Chronicle for the very latest in Duke's search for its next head football coach.
