Letter: Responses to letter misrepresented several facts

Mike Simms and Milton Sacks, letter writers responding to my letter printed Nov. 14, were mistaken about a number of things, especially my gender. I sincerely wonder what preconceptions led them to assume that I was male. Furthermore, the column I was referencing was Ambati's Nov. 6 column, not his Nov. 13 that Simms references. Not that I agree with the latter, but I definitely would have written a different letter if I were to respond to it. This explains why Simms misconstrues my points. I suggest that Simms go back and read that article; he will realize that I was responding to instances that Ambati discussed, and not "shifting the issue" or "misrepresenting" what Ambati wrote.
