Athlete of the WEEK
Top athletes know what comebacks are made of.
After a disappointing finish in the Atlantic Coast Conference cross country meet, senior Jeanne McFeely was determined to rebound with a better performance at the District III meet.
McFeely paced herself perfectly, as she ran from 70th place at the two-mile mark to a 43rd-place finish in the 300-runner competition. She blazed the 5K course in just 18:11, a personal best for her collegiate career.
With senior leadership and exceptional running, McFeely led the Blue Devil squad in her final Duke cross country meet to an 18th place finish in a field of 40 teams.
For her resilience, competitiveness, and superb feat, Jeanne McFeely is the trumpeted Chronicle Athlete of the Week.
