I take exception with the quotation from a student in the Jan. 31 article on the alleged sexual assault.
It is an outrage that these kinds of incidents happen; it is an outrage that they happen our our campus; it is an outrage that they happen in dorms, but it is not "one thing to be walking around on campus outside." It is, in fact, the same thing, and it is unacceptable. We should all feel safe enough on our campus to go where we want to go.
Fear is a repercussion of violence of any kind. We should take reasonable precautions, but we should not have to limit ourselves or go about our lives in fear.
Until everyone feels safe on our campus and in the world, we have a lot of work to do.
