Duke women's tennis awarded No. 9 seed for NCAA championship

Although they fell in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament, the Blue Devils still received a top-10 seed for the NCAA championship and will open play in front of their home crowd.  No. 9 Duke earned the No. 9 seed in the championship bracket and will take on Virginia Commonwealth in its first match May 13 at 1 p.m.


Freshman Jason Lapidus saw his first singles action of the spring but fell in straight sets as the Tigers stormed back from a 3-0 deficit to beat Duke 4-3 Friday at Ambler Tennis Stadium.

Duke men's tennis can't hold 3-0 lead, falls to Clemson

Clemson stormed back with four straight singles victories to snatch a 4-3 win from Duke at Ambler Tennis Stadium. Daniel McCall’s final two sets had to be decided by tiebreakers, but the senior could not come away with either one, leaving the Blue Devils with their third straight loss and fourth 4-3 loss on the year.


Redshirt freshman Christina Makarova eked out a three-set victory on court six to even the match at 2-2, but the Blue Devils could not capitalize on the mid-match momentum and fell 4-3 to No. 16 Georgia Tech Friday.

Georgia Tech outlasts Duke women's tennis with Capra out again

No. 16 Georgia Tech dealt the short-handed No. 8 Blue Devils a tight 4-3 loss Friday afternoon. at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta. Four of the six singles matches went three sets—and three needed tiebreakers—but No. 49 Paige Hourigan outlasted Duke's No. 41 Kaitlyn McCarthy on court two to give the Yellow Jackets the win.
