“Our board is absolutely committed to maintaining the safety of all of our students and staff, and they see that vaccination is the way to go,” said Chip Sudderth, chief communications officer of Durham Public Schools.

The vans, equipped with a multitude of data-collecting devices, collect and compile information about every street maintained by Durham Public Works to help plan street maintenance funding.
Though election days are still weeks away, Durhamites will be able to take advantage of early voting in municipal elections starting this Wednesday, Sept. 16. For those unsure of when or where to go, The Chronicle has put together a quick guide to early voting in Durham.

The CDC’s COVID-19 tracker reported Thursday that there were 889 COVID-19 cases in Durham County in the past seven days. There were 77 new hospital admissions and less than 10 deaths in the same time period.
The city of Durham recognized Burruss in November 2018, when she received the Neighbor Spotlight Award for her “efforts to improve her community.”
Williams, a Durham native, said that his platform is “going to take the buy-in of community leaders, of faith leaders, of elected officials, community organizers, families.”
Johnson said that she hopes to make city government as accessible as possible and geared towards amplifying marginalized voices.
Davis said that she feels so strongly about fighting poverty because she has had to overcome obstacles many Durhamites experience today: food and home insecurity, underemployment and gun violence.
While Duke has seen the most positive tests of the four schools, it is the only university of the four to require regular surveillance testing for vaccinated students.
“The point of it was to see Durham—see Durham with a vision of how we could all live, work and play safely. The vision is for an equitable Durham.”
Durham's restaurant industry saw a dip during the pandemic, and the primary cause seems to be understaffing.
