The major companies' expansions to the Triangle will provide a boost to the Triangle’s economy by bringing thousands of new jobs to the area, including for Duke students—but it could also stymie the success of tech startups, increase congestion and accentuate Durham’s lack of affordable housing.
Though I understand little of the scoring and game play, I blend into the crowd, booing when the Redbirds (infrequently) score and cheering madly when Dalton Kelly and Josh Lowe hit home runs back to back.
The Marine Lab is three hours away from Durham on Piver’s Island, which Duke shares with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. But it’s far more than just a lab: it has dorms, a dining hall, a library, multiple research labs, a drone lab, classroom spaces and abundant views of the ocean.
On Friday and Saturday, Duke welcomed back the Class of 2020 for commencement festivities after a 16-month delay due to COVID-19.
Sally McIntosh Ziegler, Trinity ‘56 and the first female editor-in-chief of The Chronicle, passed Sept. 10 at age 85. Many first-years' biggest question is why Duke chose to start QuadEx in the middle of the fall semester instead of before the Class of 2025 arrived on campus.
“I'm curious if Duke is trying to slowly do away with SLGs, and Greek life as a byproduct, but I don't necessarily think they will ever really be phased out here at Duke," one student said.
Reacting to the University's "disingenuous and perfunctory" response to ongoing anti-Asian violence, student groups are calling for Duke to maintain its commitment to the Asian/American and Diaspora studies.

A stately red brick residence across from East Campus will soon be transformed into an enclave for Jewish students at Duke and renamed the Fleishman House. The century-old residence features three floors, 17 bedrooms and a 2,100 square-foot rooftop deck.
