Deluxe albums: Commerce before art?

(01/10/22 5:00pm)

In the modern music landscape, there seems to be one constant: an influx of ever-growing “deluxe” albums that have little reason to exist. June 11, 2021, Migos released “Culture III” after three years of anticipation. Six days later, they dropped the deluxe version of the album. June 25, 2021, Doja Cat released “Planet Her.” Only two days later did she drop the deluxe version of that album. Some albums, such as Kendrick Lamar’s “Good Kid, M.A.A.D. Items were counted as EPs if they included more than one song, up to seven songs, or were labeled as an EP on Spotify or Apple Music. After listening to 365 EPs in 2021, here are 21 worth listening to in the new year.

New Year’s resolutions can come in many forms, and I chose to embark on a music journey. For every day of 2021, I decided to listen to an album. I was introduced to new artists, enjoyed new projects from songwriters I love and suffered through a few projects I regret putting on my list. To celebrate a year’s worth of albums though, I’ve selected 21 of the best and most enjoyable.

(01/10/22 3:29am)

Trinity College of Arts & Science’s new course evaluation format, rolled out for the 2021 fall semester, promised students a more user-friendly interface, increased nuance in feedback and easier access to past evaluations. But the revamped course evaluations haven’t just benefited students—some professors are finding unprecedented quality and quantity in last semester’s feedback.

Five observations from Duke men's basketball's first half against Miami

(01/09/22 1:55am)

Duke entered this one as a 14.5-point favorite, but it’s shaping up to be far closer than the spread would have indicated. Miami came out hot thanks to its stellar guard play and jumped out to an early lead, before the Blue Devils fought back to make it 32-32 at the half. Here’s five of our observations from the first 20 minutes.
