Duke alum charters non-profit Respectacle chapter at Wake Forest to collect, refurbish used eyeglasses

When Bryce Polascik, Trinity ‘20, was an undergraduate at Duke, he set up an eyeglasses donation box in the Campus Center Pharmacy through Respectacle. Respectacle, a non-profit aiming to increase eyeglass accessibility, collects unused or old glasses then refurbishes and uploads them to an online catalog where anyone can order a pair that matches their prescription for just a few dollars in shipping costs.

On September 15, 2022, the Duke Graduate Students Union (DGSU - SEIU Local 27), composed of graduate student workers across departments of Duke University, publicly announced a union authorization campaign. This campaign has since achieved a clear and growing majority of graduate student workers who have signed authorization cards, and DGSU has thus filed on March 3, 2023, with the National Labor Relations Board for a secret ballot election, pursuant to Section 9(e)(1) of the National Labor Relations Act.

Duke baseball drops back half of midweek pair in low-scoring matchup against Northeastern

Entering their midweek matchup, Duke and Northeastern were ranked 10th and 11th in the country in runs scored per game, respectively. But baseball is a mysterious game, and when all was said and done from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park Wednesday evening, the two squads had combined to score just three.

GREENSBORO, N.C.—In its postseason debut, No. 4-seed Duke started strong in Thursday afternoon’s ACC tournament quarterfinal against No. 5-seed Pittsburgh. Halfway through, the Blue Devils lead 48-32 at Greensboro Coliseum with a semifinal berth on the line.
