Game Breakdown: He may not be as widely known as his fellow freshman Zion Williamson, but RJ Barrett will be the engine that makes or breaks this year’s Blue Devil squad. No one comes close to the number of accolades that the consensus No. 1 overall recruit racked up in high school, with a trophy case that includes a Gatorade National Player of the Year award, a Naismith Player of the Year award, and a FIBA U19 gold medal and MVP trophy.

With the early signing period for college basketball set to begin in a couple weeks for the Class of 2019, Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Blue Devils will be pushing hard to secure another commitment in the 2019 class before the season starts rolling. Duke recently missed out on No. 2 overall guard Cole Anthony, who excluded the program from his list of six schools on Monday, and New York’s all time leading scorer, Joe Girard, who picked Syracuse over the Blue Devils and others. So, who could join No. 18 Wendell Moore in Durham next year? Let’s take a look at what’s going on with Duke’s top remaining targets:

The last time we saw the Duke women’s basketball team, they were exiting the floor at the Times Union Center after a hard fought Sweet 16 battle with the top-overall seed Connecticut. But, perhaps their two brightest stars from the past two seasons, Lexie Brown and Rebecca Greenwell—the “Splash Sisters”—have graduated, leaving the remaining pieces to find a new identity for themselves.

Every Duke fan has heard this dig from an opposing fan at least once. “Why are the Blue Devils scared to play a non-conference road game?” It may be time to listen to the haters for once, but not for the reason you think.

Duke fans are accustomed to seeing former Blue Devils selected highly in the NBA Draft, but Duke products certainly fare less successfully in the NFL Draft. Shockingly, Blue Devil quarterback Daniel Jones is projected to go ninth overall to the New York Giants in the latest CBS Sports 2019 NFL Mock Draft.

For any squad gearing up to play Duke, it’s a given that the Blue Devils will come out firing. It's often just a question of whether or not those shots will connect.
