Beyond the Arc: Duke basktball vs. Utah

(03/28/15 10:33am)

Playing in his hometown, just a day removed from his 19th birthday, freshman Justise Winslow carried the top-seeded Blue Devils to a 63-57 victory against No. 5 seed Utah in the Sweet Sixteen at NRG Stadium in Houston Friday night. The forward finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the game and made all the big plays when necessary to help Duke fight off the Utes' late rally. With the victory, the Blue Devils advanced to the Elite Eight, where they will take on second-seeded Gonzaga Sunday at 5:05 p.m.

Beyond the Arc: Duke basketball vs. Notre Dame

(03/14/15 11:15am)

The second-ranked Blue Devils fell behind as many as 16 in the first half and could not complete the comeback late in a 74-64 loss to 11th-ranked Notre Dame in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. Coming off its dominant victory over N.C. State, Duke came out flat and failed to match the intensity of the Fighting Irish in Greensboro Friday night. The Blue Devils' second loss of the season to Notre Dame overshadowed an outstanding individual performance by freshman Jahlil Okafor, who finished with 28 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the floor. With the defeat, Duke now eagerly waits for Selection Sunday, when it will find out whether it will earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament

Beyond the Arc: Duke basketball vs. N.C. State

(03/13/15 5:55am)

No. 2 Duke used a tenacious defensive effort and balanced offensive attack to build a 27-point halftime lead in a 77-53 rout of N.C. State in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. The Blue Devils accounted for the high-octane backcourt of the Wolfpack by applying full-court pressure and throwing N.C. State out of whack with a stout zone defense that allowed Duke to avenge its 87-75 regular season defeat at the hands of the Wolfpack. With the win, the Blue Devils will take on the winner of Thursday's Miami-Notre Dame game Friday at 9 p.m.
