Quinton Smith, interim director of the Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture, stood on the steps of the Duke Chapel Wednesday afternoon. He spoke about Derek Chauvin’s Tuesday conviction for the murder of George Floyd, evoking hope tempered with knowledge of the challenges that remain. 





Doha Ali and Gerardo Párraga chosen as Young Trustee nominees

Senior Doha Ali and third-year law student Gerardo Párraga were chosen by nominating committees and President Vincent Price as Duke’s next undergraduate and graduate Young Trustees, respectively, wrote Margaret Epps, secretary to the Board of Trustees and Price’s chief of staff, in a Wednesday email to The Chronicle.

We’re approaching the end of one of the strangest academic years in Duke’s history. Students have spent the year studying remotely from home or living on a changed campus. Many faculty members have had to adapt to virtual teaching. Staff have worked to keep Duke open despite the new risks the pandemic poses. 










DSG endorsement policy for 2021 election

The Chronicle will be publishing endorsement letters for the 2021 Duke Student Government presidential election from Tuesday, March 2nd to Monday, March 8th at 11:59 p.m. The candidates for executive vice president have agreed not to seek endorsements this year. No endorsements will be published the days of the election. The final deadline for endorsements is Monday, March 8th at 7 p.m.
