(11/03/23 4:40am)

East Campus was pulsing with energy as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed freshmen arrived at Duke Aug. 19 for move-in. Parents were ushering their kids toward a new collegiate adventure as orientation leaders schlepped bags to rooms. Various Blue Devil faculty and staff were grinning from ear to ear, trying to settle nerves and engage the new students in positive conversations.

Duke women's soccer surrenders 4 goals at home against No. 1 Florida State, setting up must-win game to qualify for NCAA tournament

(10/23/23 4:38pm)

Two weekends prior, Duke women’s soccer pulled off the unthinkable at home. Snatching a last-minute tie against then-No. 1 North Carolina, the Blue Devil faithful had every hope that their team could execute another upset against the top team in the country. However, when Florida State came to town, it was over before it started.

Kat Rader has scored plenty of goals. But the Duke women's soccer phenom is shooting for a greater target

(10/21/23 6:27am)

The six-o’clock shadow was encroaching on Koskinen Stadium, reflecting the dampened mood of the Blue Devil faithful. North Carolina had a 1-0 lead on Duke with the minutes winding down, as if the chance of a tie or victory was fading into oblivion. However, there was one player on the field determined to be the bright light in the impending darkness — sophomore phenom Kat Rader.

No. 22 Duke women's soccer leaves it late against North Carolina, snatches draw on Rader's last-minute equalizer

(10/09/23 6:06am)

When the kickoff whistle blew Sunday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium, the collegiate soccer world fully expected a North Carolina win. After all, the No. 1 team in the country had not lost a game, scoring 28 goals and holding its opponents to a measly seven tallies. However, the Tar Heels were victims of a prophecy that has fulfilled itself time and time again — count out the underdogs and they come back to bite. Especially if their mascot is the Blue Devils.

No. 17 Duke women's soccer battles to ACC stalemate against Virginia as Ndaw logs first career goal

(10/02/23 1:19pm)

There are a lot of pieces that go into winning a soccer game. The defense needs to be stingy, the midfield needs to possess the ball and the keeper must be locked in on any potential threats. However, victory is unattainable if one cannot outscore their opponent. For Duke, these final third struggles have epitomized its season.

Under the bright lights Thursday night, two storybook villains were set to face off in a battle of fury. East Carolina entered the gates of hell, hoping to play with fire and conquer the underworld of Koskinen Stadium. Yet the swashbuckling Pirates learned a valuable lesson in combat – mess with the Devils of Durham, go up in a blaze of blue flame.

Last-gasp goal earns No. 20 Duke field hockey road win against Maryland before close loss to Northwestern

(09/04/23 7:16pm)

When Duke closed out its 2022 campaign in a loss to Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament last fall, the team had seemingly hit rock bottom. With a losing record and not a single conference win, head coach Pam Bustin’s squad was struggling to make a name for itself. In the 2023 season, the Blue Devils have something to prove — to themselves, to the ACC and to the nation at large.

Duke women's soccer 2023 season preview

(08/17/23 6:26am)

Last season, Duke had the makings of a College Cup-bound team — immense talent, steadfast teamwork and unrivaled determination. With a 15-5-3 overall record and one of the best strikers in the country with Michelle Cooper, it seemed as though head coach Robbie Church’s squad might hoist a trophy. A berth to the biggest event in college soccer, however, proved out of reach. Once more losing in the NCAA quarterfinals, the Blue Devils exited the road to a national championship in a double-overtime loss to No. 3 Alabama.
