Spring 2009 offers—Overview

(12/08/08 10:01am)

At midnight, 25 applicants were offered columns—21 of them biweekly and 4 of them weekly—and four applicants were offered blogs at The Chronicle. This means that roughly 42 percent of columnist applicants were offered positions. In addition, a waitlist was created to anticipate any vacated spots in the future. We will be posting a breakdown of these columnists later this week.

A resounding silence

(02/17/10 10:00am)

On Jan. 14, The Chronicle ran my guest commentary, “From a DukeEngage dropout,” concerning my experiences with the DukeEngage Trinidad and Tobago program in the summer of 2009. A month has passed and I have yet to receive any response, private or public, from either DukeEngage Director Eric Mlyn or Fuqua Professor Lucy Reuben.  I am eager to hear their perspectives, but their silence speaks volumes as well.

From a DukeEngage dropout

(01/14/10 10:00am)

On June 1, 2009, I boarded a plane to Trinidad and Tobago as part of a DukeEngage program under the direction of Fuqua Professor Lucy Reuben. On July 13, 2009, I returned to North Carolina, almost four weeks shy of the program’s official end date. I paid back DukeEngage $752 and I paid the travel agency $324 to secure an earlier return date.
