Seyward Darby served as editor of the 101st volume of The Chronicle in 2005-2006, when three Duke lacrosse players were falsely accused of raping an exotic dancer at a party held by the team. Since graduating in 2007, Darby moved to Washington, D.C. and works for The New Republic, where she serves as deputy online editor. Now five years since the March 13 party, The Chronicle’s Taylor Doherty and Lindsey Rupp spoke with Darby about her memories of overseeing coverage of the case.

Since graduating in 2008, McCartney received a masters in political communication at Dublin City University on a Mitchell Scholarship. He currently lives in Arlington, Va., and works as an associate editor on the msnbc.com politics team at the NBC News bureau in Washington, D.C. As part of the third day of Senior Week events, seniors attended the President’s BBQ Wednesday evening. Held in Cameron Indoor Stadium, the event featured free food, dessert and drinks as well as complimentary cups and fleece blankets for the Class of 2010. President Richard Brodhead and his wife Cynthia Brodhead played hosts, talking with students and even taking photos in the photo booths with several students.

Students and community members packed Cameron Indoor Stadium Tuesday afternoon to welcome home the men’s basketball team from its victory in Indianapolis, Ind. Spectators waved copies of newspapers and chanted “Let’s go Duke!” as the final minute of the game was replayed on the video scoreboard. The audience cheered, listening to speeches from men’s head basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, seniors Jon Scheyer, Lance Thomas and Brian Zoubek and junior Nolan Smith.
