BDU president Max Bernell discusses LGBTQ advocacy, organization's plans for next year

Junior Max Bernell was recently selected to be next year's president of Blue Devils United, a student group that advocates for LGBTQ+ students. The Chronicle spoke with Bernell, who currently serves as president of BDU, about his goals for the organization and the LGBTQ+ community on Duke's campus. The interview has been edited for length and clarity.






Obama's Intelligence Director James Clapper discusses the threat of Russia, cyber security

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper spoke on campus Monday for the event "Cyber Security: America's Greatest Threat?" Clapper served as the director of national intelligence from 2010 to 2017 under President Barack Obama and was responsible for overseeing CIA, NSA and FBI operations. Currently on the advisory board of the non-profit organization Committee to Investigate Russia, Clapper also has a book, "Facts and Fears: Hard Truths from a Life in Intelligence. Hard Truths from a Life in Intelligence," set to be released in May. The Chronicle sat down with Clapper to discuss national security and intelligence issues, as well as his thoughts on the game Saturday.

Next, after having shared the exciting news with others, you log onto Facebook, ready to join your class’s Facebook group in an effort to find out who your future classmates are. Within a matter of weeks since early decision results were made available, the Class of 2021 has already used Facebook to share some particularly interesting personal information, advice and thoughts with the rest of their class.
