Beats' picks: Will Duke football take down Temple to open its season with a win?

Before every game this season, our football beat writers predict whether the Blue Devils will pick up a win in their weekly matchup and keep track of their records throughout the year. In Duke and new head coach Mike Elko's season debut, the Blue Devils host Temple at Wallace Wade Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, with the home side as a nine-point favorite.

De Jesus shines in Duke women's basketball's win against Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C.—When a team shoots outshoots its opposition 47% to 37% and dominates the interior 36 paint points to 22, one may expect the result to be a comfortable, lopsided victory. However, the reality Sunday afternoon in Clemson for the Blue Devil’s was a far more exhilarating crossing of the finish line. Up nine, with two minutes remaining in the game, the hare relaxed early and began snoozing. Fortunately for Duke, in this instance, they woke up in time to stop the tortoise from completing a demoralizing comeback and stunning upset.

Another week of college basketball is in the rear view, meaning that it's time for another installment of the Blue Zone's thoughts on the latest AP Poll. This week, Duke's three wins held them in place as the No. 2 team in the nation as teams around the country gear up for conference play.

Day-Wilson, Taylor shine in Duke women's basketball's win against Troy

Duke continued its scorching hot start to the season with an emphatic 91-75 win at home against Troy to push the team to 6-0. This was an evening to remember for both freshman Shayeann Day-Wilson and junior Celeste Taylor. The former of which scored a career-high 26 points on 8-of-10 shooting from three, marking a new career-high and tying a Duke single-game record for 3-pointers made. Taylor, on the other hand, recorded season-highs in points, 3-pointers, rebounds and steals, dropping 24 points and 11 rebounds and six steals. To put it simply, Duke’s stars shined bright.
