Business opportunities are right under students' noses

Although the University has very few business classes, it does offer an outstanding ways to get hands-on business and finance experience. Devil's Delivery Service, a provider of delivery service for Subway, Cattleman's, Han's and Bull City Grill, is a student-owned and managed businesses. They both sell shares to undergraduates, and besides the valuable experience that these two businesses may offer, their shares may also represent good investment opportunities.

With today's increasingly volatile markets, investors are again examining their risk exposures. During a raging bull market, such as that of the past few years, investors pay little attention to risk because all investments appear to rise in value. Because of fears that the market is still overvalued, there is no better time than now to take a second look at your risk profile.




Playing the Market

Benjamin Franklin made an understatement when he said that a penny saved is a penny earned. Today, it can conceivably be said that a penny saved properly is two pennies earned. For the millions of Americans who consider themselves investors, this principle has proven to be true, even with the recent market turmoil. You do not have to be the Duke student who wants to work on Wall Street, or even who wants to go into business, to learn about personal finance and the stock market.
