The Blue Devils are back at full strength. After suffering a concussion in the team’s win against Wake Forest Feb. 12 and missing Duke’s last game against Florida State, sophomore point guard Tyrese Proctor is active for Wednesday night’s game against Miami, a team representative confirmed.

A popular vacation destination for many Duke students after classes get out in May, the Myrtle Beach, S.C., area has developed into a favorite location for the Blue Devils’ baseball squad. After winning an NCAA regional in Conway last season, No. 16 Duke opened its 2024 campaign with a 3-0 showing in Baseball at the Beach over the weekend against Indiana, George Mason and Coastal Carolina.

Sophomore point guard Tyrese Proctor did not travel with the Duke men’s basketball team to Tallahassee, Fla., for its Saturday game against Florida State due to a concussion. Proctor suffered a collision to his head in the team’s Monday game against Wake Forest, and played sparingly in the second half of that game.

Entering the season ranked No. 12 in the country, the Blue Devils have their eyes set on reaching Omaha, Neb., for the first time since 1961.

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The first time the Blue Devils traveled away from Cameron Indoor for an ACC matchup — an ugly loss to Georgia Tech — they were sloppy and disjointed. This time around, it looked as though history may repeat itself, but No. 14 Duke was able to weather a rocky first half and pull away for a 67-59 win against Notre Dame inside Purcell Pavilion.

It has been nearly a month since the last time the Blue Devils took the field — an impressive 30-19 win against Pitt on senior day — and it is safe to say that a lot has changed since then. Former head coach Mike Elko left for Texas A&M, key players on both sides of the ball entered the transfer portal and Duke hired a new head coach in Manny Diaz. The 2023 season, with all of its ups and downs, will finally come to an end Saturday in the Birmingham Bowl, where Duke will face Troy.

By any of these measures, Duke has not lived up to its preseason expectations. The simplest way to gauge the Blue Devils season thus far is their record: an unimpressive 5-3.
