Duke hopes to regroup vs. Northeastern, Richmond

(09/27/96 4:00am)

The No. 6 Blue Devils took the morning off yesterday, in an effort to gain both rest and momentum following Wednesday night's loss to the University of North Carolina. Head coach Liz Tchou said that Duke was "pretty much spent" emotionally, mentally and physically, and told her players that Thursday morning's three-hour long practice would be canceled.

The search for an uncorrupted program, laden with student-athletes and devoid of scandals, becomes more difficult. To find not one but two such teams, playing each other on one football field, is truly a rarity.

The defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion women's tennis team travels to Georgia for its fourth dual meet of the season at noon on Saturday. The Blue Devils will attempt to improve upon their current winning record of 2-1. The fourth-ranked Bulldogs have built up a strong rivalry with No. 5 Duke over the years. Georgia leads the overall series 12-7, and the Bulldogs won both of last year's matchups.
