Duke men's golf 2021 season preview

Given the new additions to an already talented and veteran squad, it’s not hard to reason why Duke came into the 2021 campaign ranked No. 25, with the Blue Devils jumping up to No. 18 after two top-four finishes to open the season. With a frenzy of tournaments against some of the best teams the ACC has to offer, this season will be captivating for any Blue Devil fan. In a year filled with uncertainty, however, the team will have to weather the many obstacles in their path to perform to its expectations. -Brennan Hurd




X-Factor: DJ Steward will have to be efficient if Duke is to beat Clemson

Following the 75 - 68 win over Georgia Tech on Tuesday, the Blue Devils set their sights on the next ACC opponent in Clemson. This marks the first meeting of these two teams in over a year, where Clemson took the lead late to upset then-No. 3 Duke. While both teams have stumbled as of late, this game serves as a test for both to convey their perseverance. Look for these players to make the difference:


Film room: Duke football must be prepared for a number of Virginia game plans

Following an embarrassing loss to Boston College in Week 2 of the season, the Duke Blue Devils look to bounce back on the road against the Virginia Cavaliers in Virginia’s first game of the year. The Cavaliers will feature several new facets to their offense this season, including sophomore quarterback Brennan Armstrong. As a six-point favorite, Virginia looks to continue building their program after a successful nine win year in 2019.


Take of the week: All-inclusive NCAA tournament is bad for basketball

Let’s face it—we all miss basketball. With a dissatisfying end to the 2020 basketball season, combined with a long and miserable hiatus of sports in general, Duke fans can nearly unanimously pronounce that basketball needs to come back as soon as possible. How this happens, however, is a different story. 


X-Factor: Duke football will need a secure secondary led by Leonard Johnson to topple Notre Dame

Following a lackluster record of 5-7 in 2019, the Blue Devils open the new season against the 10th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Irish are a new, temporary addition to the ACC and are now in contention to win the conference. While it is apparent that all of Duke’s position players will have to perform at a high level, look for these players to have make or break plays during the matchup this Saturday.
