Months after Larry Moneta deleted his Twitter account following pushback to a controversial tweet about free speech, he has now put his Facebook account “on hiatus” after dispatches from his visit to Duke Kunshan University drew student criticism Thursday.

Duke is known to have renamed one building due to its namesake’s racist history—Aycock Residence Hall. Now named East House, the East Campus residence hall was renamed in 2014, when then-President Richard Brodhead announced the change had been approved by the Board of Trustees after student leaders had called for renaming. 


University carillonneur is stepping down after more than five decades of playing the Chapel bells

General Gilmary Hostage III, Pratt '77, returned to Duke's campus Tuesday to accept the Air Force ROTC Distinguished Alumni award. The retired general previously served as the commander of Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force base, where he was responsible for coordinating and maintaining combat-ready forces. He previously served as the commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command in Southwest Asia. The interview has been edited for length and clarity.
