Snoop Dogg, finding time to record a ninth album despite his commitment to appearing in every stoner comedy in the last 15 years, is easily the most self-aware, larger-than-life rap figure of his generation. How else would you explain the song "Sensual Seduction" and the corresponding video? With quality reminiscent of videotape from the '80s, or just Snoop's own adult-themed work in Doggystyle, it perfectly captures the vintage samples and synthy sounds featured prominently in Ego Trippin'.

Augustana began with humble roots in Greenville, Il. as college students studying music. Abruptly the band decided to uproot themselves and move to California to live their dreams as musicians. After a steady flow of touring and a rapid influx of publicity, Augustana became famous from San Diego to Boston. recess' Baishi Wu spoke recently with bassist Jared Palomar before Augustana's Duke University Union-sponsored show in Page Auditorium this Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

With all the silly political commentary the American public has been subject to this week, recess decided to ask the tough questions and get to the heart of the real issues: our favorite TV show and celebrity gossip. NBC's newest hit, Heroes, featuring an assortment of gifted mutants connected to one another in mysterious ways, has brought the network back from the broadcast junkyard.
