The University of North Carolina System Board of Governors’ University Governance committee voted Wednesday evening to eliminate a key diversity, equity and inclusion policy, setting up the likely elimination of many DEI-related administrative positions and offices at all of the state’s public universities.

A study from this February by the University of Michigan estimated that 15% of Americans don’t believe climate change is real. The researchers analyzed over 7.4 million tweets from roughly 1.3 million people, who geocoded the posts and classified the posts as “for” or “against” climate change using an AI large language model. Climate change denialism was most highly clustered in the central and Southern U.S. and was further correlated with political affiliation.



Drew Greene and Rickard Stureborg selected as Young Trustee nominees

Senior Drew Greene and Rickard Stureborg, a final-year doctoral candidate studying computer science, were chosen by the Young Trustee Nominating Committee and President Vincent Price as Duke’s next Undergraduate and Graduate/Professional Young Trustees, respectively, wrote Margaret Epps, secretary to the Board of Trustees and Price's chief of staff, in a Tuesday email to The Chronicle.

No. 14 Duke men's tennis breaks 6-game winning streak with loss to No. 16 NC State in regular-season finale

No. 14 Duke concluded its 2023-24 regular season by splitting a pair of away matches against ranked ACC opponents this past weekend. The Blue Devils started off strong Friday with a dominant 4-1 victory against No. 7 Wake Forest, before falling to No. 16 N.C. State by a score of 4-2 Sunday. The loss to the Demon Deacons snapped a six-match winning streak for head coach Ramsey Smith’s squad, who finished their regular season with a strong 17-8 overall record and 9-3 in ACC play. 



No. 21 Duke women's tennis earns dominant win against Louisville, will face Wake Forest in ACC tournament

On Sunday afternoon, No. 21 Duke showed off why expectations were so high leading into the season. Head coach Jamie Ashworth’s squad won in dominant fashion on the road against Louisville, coming away with a 4-0 sweep against the Cardinals. 


‘Bravo!’: Duke alums rave after watching Duke students do Duke student things

Everything was in place. The lawn was perfectly manicured and colored a perfect verdant hue. Metal forks had temporarily been restored to WU. Students were strategically placed all over campus to ensure that everywhere a visitor looked, someone was sure to appear academically engaged. A white picket fence had been erected outside the reunion tent to subconsciously remind the reunion attendees of their suburban homes.
