One of the questions I get asked from people back in Durham (besides “how much did you win?”) is if I’ve played with any famous celebrities.

Stephen Allan, a recently graduated columnist of The Chronicle, has moved to Las Vegas with dreams of becoming a professional poker player. He will be kind enough to impart on us his gambling wisdom in this biweekly column—The Devil Went Down to Vegas—which will run every other Tuesday. In her third season as head coach of the women's basketball team, Joanne McCallie has finally led Duke to a regular-season conference title--and for that, she has been named the ACC Coach of the Year by the Blue Ribbon Panel, commissioner John Swofford announced today.
Mike Krzyzewski has won three national titles and has coached exactly 1,000 games at Duke, but in his 30 years in Durham, he has never offered a junior college player a scholarship--until apparently now.
FINAL--Duke 64, UNC 54: And that's a wrap. It was ugly physically and from a shooting perspective, but I guarantee you Coach K will say it's a beautiful win after the game--and really, the only word that matters to Duke right now is win. We're headed down to the locker rooms for more to write our stories, thanks for reading. Stephen A. out.
FOXBOROUGH, MA.—As it turned out, the third time was not the charm for No. 3 Duke.
Syracuse 14-7, 10:38: Quinzani added a nice goal from the left side of the net to complete his hat trick, but that might be the only thing worth highlighting on the day for Duke.
Duke 15-13, FINAL: Well, it wasn't easy. Bart Wagner just ripped a shot with 10 seconds left that could've brought North Carolina back within one (and if you don't think 10 seconds is enough time to change a game, remember Zack Greer against Cornell in the Final Four two years ago) but it sailed just wide. Duke held on to win and has won three consecutive ACC titles for the first time ever. We'll come back later for more postgame analysis. Thanks again for reading.
CHAPEL HILL — Senior Ned Crotty said after Friday's game against second-seeded Virginia that he wasn't sure No. 3 Duke would win until two minutes remained.
Duke 15-4, 3:39: The sports staff's new editor upon reading my text about the score of this game: "Oh wow. I don't know how else to react." That pretty much sums up this game--wow. Some questioned whether Duke could beat Virginia twice, but in reality, it has made the first game look like the one where the Blue Devils played poorly. This will be my last in-game post as I get ready for the postgame interviews. Thanks for reading, and go enjoy your Friday nights (unless you're Gabe--lucky editor is seeing Dave Matthews Band live. Or a Duke student--unlucky kids have exams this upcoming week).
Before Saturday, Duke had not notched signature or complete game this season.
GREENSBORO -- Head coach Mike Krzyzewski had said Thursday evening that a Duke-Texas matchup didn't sound like a second-round NCAA Tournament matchup. On Saturday in Greensboro Coliseum, his words proved prophetic as the last minutes delved into the pandemonium that has come to define March Madness.
Duke 74-69, FINAL: And that's a wrap. Wow. By far the best game I've seen all year. I don't know where to start. It looked like Duke would pull away late, then Texas came back, Singler fouled out, treys rimmed out... we're going to head to the press conferences to get our minds wrapped around this one.

DUKE 74, GEORGETOWN 67 :15.4: That should just about do it. Georgetown did make a three, but Smith had two clutch free throws and the Hoyas could not convert. Duke wins.
DUKE 64, FLORIDA STATE 58 :3.9 2nd Half: That should just about actually do it now. The Seminoles took nearly 20 seconds on their previous possession to shoot a three, and by then even if it had gone in it wouldn't have mattered. Scheyer will shoot two to get the final score set.
