WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—There may be a new ACC title favorite in town.
(03/11/24 4:36am)
Last year, Duke had a magical run, one of the best seasons in recent history. But the team that prevented a fairytale ending was Virginia, defeating the Blue Devils in both the ACC Championship and the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. The Cavaliers once again proved to be an Achilles’ heel, besting the home squad 6-1 in a hard-fought match Sunday afternoon.

As the Duke fencing season nears its end, the stakes are higher than ever. This weekend, the Blue Devils competed for the chance to go against the best of the best at the NCAA Championship. This time last year, 11 Duke fencers placed within the top 10 of their respective disciplines at the 2023 NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional. With eight of these Blue Devils still in the running, the pressure was on. To no surprise, the team delivered with freshman Charlotte Koenig championing women’s foil.

The weekend was a mixed bag for the Blue Devils.
(03/10/24 10:40pm)
This weekend, Duke sent three women up to The Track at New Balance in Boston to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships. Two brand-new All-Americans — senior Brianna Smith and graduate student MaKayla Mason — returned. The two days of intense competition saw 17 events contested, with Texas Tech and Arkansas claiming the men’s and women’s team titles, respectively.

After each Duke men's basketball game this season, check back here for the Player of the Game and more. The Blue Devils fell to North Carolina in the final ACC regular-season matchup, with the Tar Heels clinching the conference title in the process. The Blue Zone analyzes the 84-79 defeat:

After losing to North Carolina 84-79 on his senior night, captain Jeremy Roach sat in front of his locker to talk to the media for presumably the last time at Cameron Indoor Stadium. His voice was low and his face stoic. He didn’t have much to say — he never has after a loss.
(03/10/24 1:50am)
Kyle Filipowski hit two quick jumpers out of the halftime break to bring Duke within five after nearly 20 minutes of deep deficit. Jared McCain edged backwards and applauded, eyed the jubilant Cameron Crazies and grinned. Elliot Cadeau missed a free throw, Filipowski backed down his man and hit a 3-point jumper as the crowd went wild. Head coach Jon Scheyer kept his cool, squatting by the bench stone-faced as Tyrese Proctor nailed a trey of his own.
(03/10/24 12:54am)
Actor and stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld will be the commencement speaker for the Class of 2024, Duke announced in a video Saturday evening at the Duke-University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill men’s basketball game.
(03/10/24 12:26am)
Inside Cameron Indoor Stadium for the final game of their regular season, the ninth-ranked Blue Devils struggled to keep pace with the seventh-ranked Tar Heels for much of the first half before a late-period fightback closed the gap. Duke trails North Carolina 40-31 heading into the locker room:

It’s finally here. The Blue Devils are set for their second showdown with their Tobacco Road Rivals, and the Blue Zone is here with some can’t-miss prop bets before the rematch with the Tar Heels:
(03/09/24 6:35pm)
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Even an hour-long rain delay couldn’t put a damper on this heavyweight bout.
(03/09/24 5:23pm)
GREENSBORO, N.C.— A red sea flooded the stands Friday inside Greensboro Coliseum, with only small pockets of blue visible. This was nobody’s home court, but N.C. State fans showed up for their team in a way that was exponentially higher than Duke fans. And this no doubt had an effect on the Blue Devils’ performance in a game that was, by many measures, chaotic.
(03/09/24 3:40pm)
No. 9 Duke faces its last — and biggest — test of the regular season Saturday evening at Cameron Indoor Stadium, welcoming historic rival and national No. 7 North Carolina. With an ACC regular-season title on the line, The Chronicle’s beat writers are here to offer their forecasts for what promises to be a chaotic evening:
(03/09/24 1:49am)
North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced Friday afternoon that he would be rescinding a 2021 executive order guiding universities on how to manage name, image and likeness (NIL) profits by student-athletes.
(03/09/24 12:04am)
GREENSBORO, N.C.—There’s nothing better than a little madness in March.
(03/08/24 8:14pm)
The Blue Devils will be hosting North Carolina in its final regular season game in Cameron Indoor Stadium Saturday. Ahead of the matchup, the Blue Zone brings you two players to look out for in the historic battle of the blue:
(03/08/24 5:05pm)
GREENSBORO, N.C.—The Blue Devils threw a party in the paint.
(03/08/24 4:10pm)
After 30 hard-fought games filled with the jubilant highs of victory and the agonizing lows of defeat, No. 9 Duke’s 2023-2024 regular season concludes Saturday as the team welcomes No. 7 North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium. With both the Blue Devils and Tar Heels ranked in the top 10 nationally and the ACC regular-season title on the line, the matchup promises to be the rivalry’s most momentous since the two teams met in the Final Four of the 2022 NCAA tournament.
