With a 2-9 season in the rear-view mirror, head coach David Cutcliffe will have to ensure that Duke still has depth at all positions during the offseason.

With the 2020 season officially over, Duke now has to deal with key contributors transferring out of the program.

On Dec. 14, 247Sports reported that senior safety Marquis Waters had entered the transfer portal. Waters, who started all 11 games this season for the Blue Devils, will be a graduate transfer at whichever school he chooses to play for next.

Waters racked up 71 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss and seven passes defended this season. The Delray Beach, Fla., native has been a starter in the Duke secondary for the last three years, so the Blue Devils are sure to miss his presence in the back end.

The next evening, The News and Observer's Steve Wiseman reported that senior defensive end Drew Jordan also entered the transfer portal. The Georgia native has been a starter for the Blue Devils the last three seasons, totaling nine sacks and 99 tackles throughout his four-year career in Durham. His 3.5 sacks this past season placed third on the team behind standouts Chris Rumph II and Victor Dimukeje.

Over a week later, on Christmas Day, 247Sports added that defensive lineman Derrick Tangelo has also entered the transfer portal. Tangelo, a starter for the last three seasons as well, totaled 113 tackles and 4.5 sacks throughout his four years at Duke, his two sacks this past season tying for fifth on the team.

Waters, Jordan and Tangelo are joined by quarterback Chase Brice as 2020 Blue Devils who have entered the transfer portal thus far.

This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
