In its final meeting of the academic year, the Duke Student Government Senate doled out funding to student groups and swore in new DSG officials.

DSG approved its annual budget, allotting nearly $370,000 to various campus groups out of the $993,948.08 for which they applied. $100,000 of surplus money in the Student Organization Finance Committee’s funds were allocated to several programs, including $25,000 to the Duke-Durham Fund and $25,000 to the Duke Student Assistance Fund. Student groups will also be able to apply for funding in the fall.

Incoming President Tommy Hessel’s cabinet was also confirmed Tuesday night. Among the 19 officers are Chief of Staff Devin Mahoney, a junior, Treasurer William Xie, a first-year, and Attorney General Jason Scharff, a junior.

The president’s cabinet members provide advice on policy matters and legislation.

Additionally, five justices were appointed to the DSG Judiciary. The justices include sophomores Emma Coleman, Carlee Goldberg and Marc Chmielewski, alongside juniors Will Brodner and Anjali Kunapaneni.
