With Duke athletics tied to a major contract with Nike, it's never a surprise to see Blue Devil teams in new gear, especially the men's basketball team.

The five-time national champions took to their Instagram account Sept. 11 and appeared to show some new threads for the upcoming season. At first glance, the uniforms are similar to Duke's current white throwback jerseys, but now include full blue panels on the sides and a new waistband. The Blue Devils were taking part in a photo shoot when the uniforms were first shown to social media Sept. 11.

The team's blue uniforms were unveiled in a tweet before Countdown to Craziness, mirroring the white uniform's same throwback style.

Nov. 8 marked the third unveiling of new uniforms for the Blue Devils, as an alternate home white uniform with gold stripes was featured in a video posted on the team's Twitter.

Mike DeGeorge, the team's director of sports information, confirmed in an email Sept. 11 to The Chronicle that the featured uniforms are the Blue Devils' new white game uniforms for the upcoming season.

The fourth uniform unveiling came before Duke's Dec. 3 contest against Michigan State. These away threads are black with blue and white paneling.

The latest uniform is the fifth of six new kits, announced on the team's Twitter account before the Blue Devils' matchup with Wake Forest. The uniform is navy blue with white piping, with a white "Duke" in Gothic font on the front of the jersey.

The final uniform revealed for the team this year is a special edition unveiled for Duke's rivalry game at North Carolina Feb. 8. The Tar Heels will also wear a similarly designed uniform for the game as the jerseys are meant to honor the 100 year history of the Tobacco Road rivalry. Nike released a preview of the jersey seen below on its website Thursday afternoon.

The new look certainly conjures up thoughts of the uniforms that Duke wore in the starting in the late 1980s with thin lettering and colored panels.
