As Duke’s relatively new squad has dominated its competition around the country this season, its alumnae have also found success in their respective lives after college soccer. Among the latter is former All-American and ACC offensive player of the year Imani Dorsey, who was recently named Rookie of the Year by the National Womens Soccer League.
This honor was given to Dorsey for a stellar debut professional season with the Sky Blue FC in which she scored four goals and had one assist. In Dorsey’s stint with Duke, she scored 29 goals with 22 assists, and was named the National Scholar Athlete of the year in her senior campaign by The United Soccer Coaches.
Dorsey’s skills were put on full display at a national level, and the fact that she still had the ability to impress her critics as a first-year player speaks volumes to how elite of a talent she is. Though this award is not Dorsey’s first honor by a longshot, it should not be her last as she continues to improve her game at at the professional level.
