For the third straight season, Duke will play at least one game without its head coach on the sidelines.
The Blue Devil program announced less than an hour before tip-off of Saturday's game against Wake Forest at Cameron Indoor Stadium that head coach Mike Krzyzewski will miss the game due to a virus. Associate head coach Jeff Capel will assume Krzyzewski's coaching duties Saturday afternoon.
Krzyzewski missed seven games last season due to a midseason back surgery, with Duke going 4-3 under Capel's watch during his absence, and Krzyzewski also did not make the trip to Atlanta for a win at Georgia Tech two years ago due to an illness. Prior to this season, Duke canceled three exhibition games in the Dominican Republic in August due to its 70-year-old head coach's knee replacement surgery.
