Each week, the Blue Zone will dissect five key stats from last week's action in Duke sports, whether they be historic or underwhelming. This week, let the numbers take you inside another exhibition win for Duke men's basketball and anticipation for the field hockey and women's soccer postseason.

The Duke field hockey team enters the NCAA tournament as the second overall seed and will host the winner of the Wednesday night play-in game between Stanford and Miami (Ohio). Duke’s first-round game is slated for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. If the Blue Devils advance, they will battle the winner of the first-round game between Maryland and Wake Forest, also being played on Saturday in Durham. The second-round game is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, also at Jack Katz Stadium.

The Duke women’s soccer team competed in the ACC championship game this past Sunday in Charleston, S.C., for the first time since 2000. The Blue Devils were dealt a 1-0 defeat by North Carolina, the team that gave Duke its only other loss on the season earlier this fall. The Blue Devils won 19 straight between those losses.

The Blue Devils routed Bowie State in their second and final exhibition game Saturday, winning by a margin of 63 points, 116-53. The Bulldogs shot just 27.3 percent from the field against Duke’s 2-3 zone-heavy defense.

The Blue Devils’ talented frontcourt demonstrated dominance of the paint against an undersized Bowie State team. Duke finished with 18 dunks and outscored Bowie State in the paint 76-14. The Blue Devils pulled down 58 boards and left Bowie State just 27 rebounds.

Duke Women’s Soccer will be headed to the NCAA tournament for the 14th time in the last 15 years. Receiving a No. 1 seed, the Blue Devils will have a shot at breaking the school record of 14 single-season home wins—they currently have 11—as their first four games in the tournament, provided they win each contest, will be played at Koskinen Stadium.
