Baldwin Scholars endorse Anya Ranganathan for Young Trustee

The Baldwin Scholars had the opportunity to hear from all four incredibly qualified Young Trustee candidates this past Sunday. After careful consideration of each candidate's platform, mission and campus experiences, the Baldwin Scholars are pleased to announce that we formally endorse Anya Ranganathan for Young Trustee.

As a member of the Business and Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility, Ranganathan has proven that she has the necessary experience and skills to serve as an undergraduate advocate on the Board of Trustees. Her institutional commitment to the University is also exemplified through her involvement with the administration’s Sexual Misconduct Taskforce. In addition to her work on the task force, she also co-led Duke Support, a resource for sexual assault victims, and helped create an abridged version of PACT training to increase student access. As a women’s leadership organization, we are deeply committed to eradicating the threat of sexual assault on this campus, and greatly appreciate Ranganathan’s efforts toward creating a safer, more accountable campus for all Duke students. Under her leadership as president of Duke’s Panhellenic Association—the largest women’s organization on campus—she made tangible efforts to diversify the recruiting process by making it more accessible to women of color, queer women, women with disabilities and women who qualify for scholarships. This dedication to creating a campus climate inclusive to the experiences and needs of all women is a mission Baldwin shares with Ranganathan; we were very impressed with how she articulated that mission into actions through her projects and campus involvement, and think she would best represent the interests and values of the Baldwin Scholars as Young Trustee.
