For the second time this year, Duke gathered as a team to recognize redshirt sophomore defensive end Danny Doyle Saturday morning.
This time, the reason for the meeting was no surprise to Doyle.
The Bradenton, Fla., native was featured prominently in a College Gameday segment Saturday morning about former walk-ons around the country who have earned full scholarships. The Blue Devils watched the segment at their hotel before their game at Northwestern later that night.

Duke head coach David Cutcliffe awarded Doyle a scholarship at a team meeting in May after spring practice. Cutcliffe told Doyle's parents ahead of time that he earned a scholarship, and they set up a time for the parents to call Cutcliffe during the meeting. Cutcliffe took the call, acting surprised, before calling Doyle to the front of the room so he could hear his parents break the news.
Doyle and his mother and father were all interviewed for the College Gameday segment to reflect on that day. ESPN's Tom Rinaldi narrated the segment, which can be viewed here.
Doyle had his first career sack Saturday night for the Blue Devils in a 24-13 loss to Northwestern.
