Board of Trustees' executive committee meets to approve appointments

The executive committee of the Board of Trustees convened Friday to approve appointments and receive updates on campus projects.

In an email Saturday morning, Richard Riddell—vice president and university secretary as well as secretary to the Board of Trustees—wrote that 12 members of the Board met Friday in a session presided by David Rubinstein, Trinity '70 and chair of the Board of Trustees. The committee voted to approve appointments to tenure and distinguished professorships as well as appointments to the Duke University Health System board of directors.

The committee also authorized degrees earned at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School—a collaboration between Duke University and the National University of Singapore—and the executive compensation for 2016-17. In addition, the establishment of the Triangle Fiber Cooperative, which will bring faster Internet to the Durham area, was approved.

The committee received updates on Duke Kunshan University, the Duke Forward Campaign, campus construction and the presidential search. Trustee evaluations from 2015-16 and topics for the Board to consider in 2016-17 were also discussed.
