CORAL GABLES, Fla.—With spring training still a few months away, New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez took some time to return to his what were nearly his stomping grounds.
Rodriguez—who spent part of his childhood in Miami—sat courtside at the BankUnited Center Monday to watch the Hurricanes down the Blue Devils 80-69. Rodriguez ditched his usual pinstripe uniform for a sharp gray business suit that seemed more apt for a business trip. The former American League MVP initially committed to play college baseball at Miami, but turned pro before matriculating after being drafted first overall by the Seattle Mariners out of high school.

Rodriguez is coming off a bounce-back season in which he hit 33 homers and recorded 86 RBIs. On the court, Miami is having a bounce-back season of its own as the team moved to 16-3 with the win and appears poised to do damage come March.
