The curious case of "M. Jones"

Tyus Jones wasn't at Countdown to Craziness Saturday night, but the floor general's fingerprints were all over Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The 2015 national championship banner—won in no small part due to Jones, the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player—was unveiled in the rafters. His brother, Class of 2018 point guard Tre Jones, took in the festivities behind the Duke bench, later making the short trip across the court to join the Cameron Crazies.

And Matt Jones' jersey still reads "M. Jones."

The DeSoto, Texas, native added the first initial heading into his sophomore season, when he shared the backcourt with Tyus Jones. Now that "T. Jones" is preparing for his rookie season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, though, Duke's captain is ready to go back to being the only Jones on the court.

"There’s no reason—I’m actually trying to get that changed right now," Jones said Saturday when asked about the "M" still stitched above his number 13. "Obviously it was cool last year, but now it’s like ‘I need 'Jones' back.’"

Former Duke guards Nolan Smith and Seth Curry have Twitter handles @NdotSmitty and @sdotcurry, respectively. But fans may not be seeing @mdotjones online anytime soon—or on the court for much longer.

Duke sported new jerseys at Saturday's Countdown to Craziness event, removing the black trim from both its white and blue jerseys. By the time the Blue Devils take the court Oct. 30 against Florida Southern for their first exhibition of the season, Jones' jersey may have one additional alteration.
