Four Fall releases to look forward to

1. Lady Gaga in "American Horror Story: Hotel"

Why Watch: American Horror Story has cemented itself as the precipice for thrilling plot lines and horrifying yet beautifully nuanced character development. Who better to be a new addition to this supernatural and bizarre anthology than the Mother Monster herself? Season five of this show was inspired by the sinister lore that surrounds many hotels in the Los Angeles area. While Gaga has teased her starring role in the series, we know very little about Gaga's character Elizabeth. Elizabeth is a wealthy and austere hotel owner who has an obsessive taste for "art, fashion, and people," according to co-creator Ryan Murphy. Sounds a little like a twisted incarnation of Gaga herself, doesn't it? While Gaga can do weird and eerie all by herself, it will be a treat to see her act in something that isn't a Machete movie and bring a little pop to this season. Watch American Horror Story: Hotel starting Oct. 7 on FX or stream it on Hulu

2. Amy Schumer's first HBO stand-up special

Amy Schumer is killing it. The comic won over the hearts and laughs of many this summer with her hit movie "Trainwreck" and her Comedy Central show "Inside Amy Schumer." Known for her feminist and candid sets, Amy Schumer has become one of the biggest comedy acts currently touring. Now, she will have the opportunity to have her next comedy special air on HBO, and from the looks of the teaser trailer, it’s hilarious. There is unique style to Schumer's acts that make her extremely relatable to her audiences. After her last special, called "Mostly Sex Stuff," it will be interesting to see if she continues focusing her comedy within this niche or expands it to other aspects of life like she has done with her early comedy and during her recent interviews. The special was directed by esteemed comedian Chris Rock and was filmed at the legendary Apollo Theater. It will premiere Oct. 17 at 10 p.m. on HBO.

Watch Amy Schumer's HBO special on Oct. 17 or watch online the next day—hopefully legally.

3. New Disclosure album "Caracal"

Disclosure broke through the American music charts from across the pond in 2013 with their hit "Latch." Not only did they give us a refreshing take on electronic music, they helped introduce us to the soulful falsetto of the wonderful Sam Smith. While their last album was more straightforward with its backdrops and melodic rhythms, the singles Disclosure has already released from their new album like "Omen" ft. Sam Smith and "Willing & Able" ft. Kwabs taps more into what listeners love about Disclosure: a more soulful and jazzy twist on electronic music as evident in the Flume remix of the Disclosure song "You & Me." With a track list featuring the likes of pop stars such as The Weeknd and Lorde, Disclosure makes sure they are not only open to integrating new influences but are also producing substantial songs that are mixed with electronic vibes. The lyric isn’t just a mere accent to the electronic mix. Hopefully, this new album will be a testament to the integrity of the group's electronic roots instead of caving into the allure of pure pop.

4. Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens

To all the Star Wars lovers out there, this December, the saga continues. This new addition to the legendary story will take place 30 years after Episode VI and will feature Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford reprising their original roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo. However, the premise and plot of the new film has been pretty much under wraps. Director J.J. Abrams, known for his work directing "Star Trek" and producing "Lost," promises to bring a refreshing nuance to the saga that doesn't compromise the integrity of the franchise's legacy. In the end, we can only hope the new film isn't JarJar Binks Part 2. After finals are said and done, catch the next installment to the Star Wars saga Dec. 18.
